Insert button doesn't work in free version

patrick's Avatar patrick
Hi,

I've noticed a strange behaviour with the latest version of modals.
The pro version is OK ( joomla 5.0.1) but with the free version, I can't insert the code for create a pop-up .
Firefox console show me :
Uncaught TypeError: this.form is null
getValue site.com/media/modals/js/button.js?bc7838:143
renderHtml site.com/media/modals/js/button.js?bc7838:46
insertText site.com/media/modals/js/button.js?bc7838:28
onclick site.com/administrator/index.php?rl_qp=1...272f17d9a429bc51=1:1

Regards
Patrick

All working fine on my setups using the free version.

Can you give me (super) admin and (s)ftp access so I can take a look?
And tell me where I can see/reproduce the issue.

Yes, if you can reproduce this on an online environment to which I can get access, I am happy to look into this.

I am online. What info do you need? I can set up a temporary super user login for you.

The credentials do not let me in to the administrator.
The user has probably not been activated yet...

Sorry, I do not provide support via email.
Make sure the user is assigned to the correct user groups.
If you do not know how to create a super user, please first ask for general Joomla support on the Joomla forum:
forum.joomla.org

Well, It is working now... I was able to login with the credentials.
I created your login the same way I created my Super User login that I use... not sure what the delay was.

The issue seems to be caused by JCE on Joomla 5, when the editor is used in a modal popup.
It doesn't seem to initiate the editor correctly through the Joomla.editors.

There is no issue when using TinyMCE (when JCE plugins are disabled).

I recommend you ask the JCE developers for support on this.

PS: When setting TinyMCE as the default editor, the JCE plugins will still try to do things and destroy the TinyMCE functionality, even outside the modal popu.

I have disabled all of the JCE plugins in the Extentions Manager. And set my default editor back to TinyMCE. What am I missing...? still not working.

There was indeed an issue with the free version of Modals too.
Please try the latest development version from:

Success! The new install worked.
Just to confirm, JCE is still not compatible? (I uninstalled it but prefer it over TinyMCE!!)
Thank you for your time and effort!

For the free version of Modals, I think JCE should not interfere. It still has an issue, but that will probably only affect the Pro version of Modals.
