Hi Peter,

I have this menu item link to a single article which loads another article using Article Anywhere. The email address inside that Article that is loaded by Article Anywhere is supposedly protected by email protector but I can highlight the text and copy and everything. Shouldn't highlighting and copy skips email addresses?

Thanks,

Jackson

You should be able to select email addresses protected by Email Protector.
Make sure the core Email Cloaker plugin is off.

My core email cloaker plugin is off.

So how does Email Protector work then?

You can see it in action on my contact page, for instance:
www.regularlabs.com/contact

Is the email address selectable when placed in a normal article (not using Articles Anywhere)?
Do you have this online so I can take a look?

Unfortunately, I cannot make the articles public yet.

Hmmm... If I can copy the email address in a page then how does it protect email address by the way? I have the impression that email protector behavior prevents it from anyone copying it to prevent bots from scraping webpages.

The email address becomes a mailto link by the way, even I did not add that in the article.

Hi Peter,

😁

But you have not answered my question:

how does the plugin protect email address?

I also read the plugin description and it just the comparison between the code email protector and rl email protector but no explanation of how the email is being protected. 😜

Thank you!

Email bots will scrape website html to look for email addresses.
If you take a look at the html output of your website that is protected with Email Protector you will see that the email address is not there as readable text.
Use the 'View Source' option in your browser, not the 'Inspect Element' option.
